Riyadh Cricket AssociationRCA was formed in the Year 1980 for organizing an
d promoting Cricketing activities in Riyadh and the Central Region. Since its formation it has been successful in bringing cricket as a game of sport among the Saudis and Expatriates working in the region. Cricket has been greatly benefited from the support of RCA Patron in Chief HRH General Dr. Prince Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. RCA is also associated with Saudi Cricket Center which is affiliated with International Cricket Council since 2003.
RCA is a non-profit organization which aims to contribute in spreading the game while promoting competition, discipline and hard work among the youth. The members of the RCA comprise players from all walks of life encompassing doctors, engineers, bankers, corporate managers and others. Every year RCA cricket teams have increased in numbers and at present there are 85 teams participating in the leagues in different tournaments. RCA with its objective of promoting cricket at the grass root level is working for developing Cricket Academy where young cricketers will be trained by specialists through structured coaching programs. Major RCA Tournaments include T20 Tournaments, 40-Over Tournaments, Saturday Leagues, T10 tournament and Inter School T20 Tournament. RCA Inter School event is also a major platform on which maximum opportunity is provided to the youth to play cricket by representing their schools. In addition, RCA selected teams participate in inter-regional matches with cricket leagues of other regions (Jeddah, Dammam, Yanbu, Medina etc). In the past, RCA has also sent team to participate in tournaments in Pakistan and UAE.
Saudi Cricket Center(SCC) was established in year 2001 under the patronage of HRH Princess Ghada Bint Hamood Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saoud. Stimulated by other international organizations, SCC has flourished with the guiding objective of “Development and Promotion of the game of Cricket in Saudi Arabia”.
Saudi Cricket Centre is the only legal and indigenous entity registered with General Presidency of Youth Welfare to control the game of Cricket in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is officially affiliated with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and International Cricket Council (ICC), which enable to control all overseas tours, regional competitions and Cricket at grass root level within the national parameters.
SCC’s progress has been governed by commitment, dedication and professionalism. SCC understands the rich cultural diversity of Saudi Arabia, its language and customs and that is what essential for the success of operations.
